چکیده

We revisit the Fritzsch-type lepton mass matrix models confronted with new experiments for neutrino mixings. It is shown that the model is viable and leads to a rather narrow range of free parameters. Using empirical mixing information between ν e and ν µ , and between ν µ and ν τ , it is predicted that the mixing angle between ν e and ν τ is in the range 0.04 < |U 13 | < 0.20, consistent with the CHOOZ experiment and the lightest neutrino mass is 0.0004 < m 1 < 0.0030 eV. The range of the effective mass measured in double beta decay is 0.002 < m ee < 0.007 eV.

Hierarchical Neutrino Masses and Large Mixing Angles from the Fritzsch Texture of Lepton Mass Matrices

We show that the Fritzsch texture of lepton mass matrices can naturally lead to the bi-large flavor mixing pattern, if three neutrinos have a normal but weak mass hierarchy (typically, m1 : m2 : m3 ∼ 1 : 3 : 10). The effective mass of the tritium beta decay and that of the neutrinoless double beta decay are too small to be observable in this ansatz, but CP violation at the percent level is allo...

Seesaw Invariance of Fritzsch-like Neutrino Mass Matrices, Leptogenesis and Lepton Flavor Violation

We propose a simple ansatz for neutrino phenomenology, in which the relevant lepton mass matrices take the universal Fritzsch-like form and the seesaw relation holds under a particular condition. There exist six textures of this nature, but their consequences on neutrino oscillations are exactly the same. We show that our scenario is viable to account for the cosmological baryon number asymmetr...

Leptonic Fritzsch Matrices and Neutrino Oscillations

It was recently shown by the authors that the Fritzsch ansatz for the quark mass matrices prescribed at the supersymmetric grand unified scale is compatible with a moderately heavy top quark (mt ≃ 120−150 GeV ). Here we extend the ansatz to incorporate the charged leptons and the neutrinos. It is found that the νe− νμ mixing angle is small and consistent with the MSW solution of the solar neutr...

On quark-lepton complementarity

Recent measurements of the neutrino solar mixing angle and the Cabibbo angle satisfy the empirical relation θsol + θC ≃ 4 . This relation suggests the existence of a correlation between the mixing matrices of leptons and quarks, the so called quark-lepton complementarity. Here, we examine the possibility that this correlation originates in the strong hierarchy in the mass spectra of quarks and ...

Quark and Lepton Flavor Mixings in the SU(5) Grand Unification Theory

We explain the imbalance of the flavor mixing angles between the quark and the lepton sectors in the context of the SU(5) GUT with the see-saw mechanism. The quark masses and the CKM matrix elements are obtained by using, respectively, the Fritzsch and Branco−Silva-Marcos form for the upand down-quark Yukawa matrices (yu and yd) at the GUT scale. The charged-lepton Yukawa matrix (ye) is the tra...
